Hiking - Walking: Orwell County Park Wind Direction: Wind Stength: Surf / Sea State: Air Temperature: 5 Sea Temperature: Weather: sunny but cold Max Speed: Distance Covered: 3 miles (Nautical Miles - unless stated otherwise)
Saturday 25th November – walk **** Orwell County Park – sunny but
cold.
With wall to wall sunshine but cold only 4/5 degrees with a WNW strong
enough to windsurf but the tides not good for the River venues. So, we
packed a snack and headed to Orwell County Park just behind the Shell
Garage near the Orwell Bridge. We walk down through the woods that were
full of bluebells earlier in the year now beautiful with Autumn colours:)
We reach the River Orwell turning left for a while to take in more of the
lovely woods. It was a bit of a scramble down to the beach as we turn into
the cold North wind but with a stunning blue sky. There were loads of
waders feeding in the mud, a couple of yachts were out braving the cold
breeze plus dog walkers and a couple of cyclists on the beach! We passed a
new bird hide on the shore before walking up and under the impressive
Orwell Bridge. We followed the path as it runs parallel to the very busy
and noisy A 14, can’t believe the volume of traffic! We find a seat for
the homemade quiche for lunch before returning to the van. We were out one
and a half hours covering three miles. Sadly, we then visited the busy
retail park but I did get two pairs of gloves for £3.99 – bargain :)
Then headed home for a warming cuppa and cake and watch the rugby – top
day.
The question is is it too cold to go windsurfing tomorrow?
